F# Tuning

Tuning up
Andy used F# tuning (tune all string 2 half steps up) for most early Smiths songs (debut album, Meat Is Murder). You can tune your bass up or use a capo on the 2nd fret.
Tuning your bass up with normal strings will cause a lot of string tension, so its wise to replace your strings with medium/lightweigh gauge strings to get a good sound.
Something like:
- Light: .040/.065/.080/.100 or Medium: .045/.065/.085/.105

Capo 2nd fret
Using normal E tuning and putting a capo on the 2nd fret works, but won't give you the propper snappy sound and is quit harder to play.

Standard tuning
For the later songs (Queen is dead, Strangeways) standard E tuning is used.

Drop D-tuning
For some songs drop D tuning is used, Like: How Soon Is Now? Shoplifters.
